It is silly, it is whimsical and it is funny. But there is a serious side to it too. The question "why" something happens aren't asked very often. You know how to turn the computer monitor on, you see all those wires running around, you sort of know "how" it works. But do you know Why it works? Why do those pixels light up when you connect them to the power outlet? So once a year, it is not a bad idea to ask a few more "why" questions then you normally would. And in addition, March 14th is Einstein's birthday. He has taught us so much. He needs to be remembered beyond the cliche of e=mc^2. Happy Talk like a Physicist day to you! Have a pi on that day, think about Einstein and the big universe and ask a few more why questions - it will be fun! Yes, it is a silly idea, and that is THE point.
